Pier 48, Pier Reconstruction, Port of San Francisco, 2002
Project requirements: Replace a 100-year-old culvert carrying a stream through the rugged terrain under the winding two-lane highway.
Ghirardelli Associates provided a field inspector who was in charge of the reconstruction of Pier 48 that was destroyed by a fire several years ago. The work involves installing new pier members, bents, and decking near the bay, as well as reconstructing structures, walls and roofs, including plumbing and electrical systems.

Pier 33 Emergency Repair, Port of San Francisco
Ghirardelli Associates provided inspection services on the emergency repair of soffits and beams underneath Pier 33 for the Port of San Francisco. Over the years, the salt water environment had severely deteriorated portions of the structure and the repair consisted of chipping away bad concrete and installing additional rebar, silica-fume shotcrete and an acrylic elastomeric waterproof coating.
