East Hillsdale Bridge Seismic Retrofit
City of San Mateo
$4.2 Million
Seismically retrofit a 600-foot long bridge over the lagoon
using additional piles at piers, and reinforce the bent cap for unilateral
movement of columns. Work is being done adjacent to traffic and involves
the coordination of two cities, one on each side of the bridge.

3A Phase I
Army Corp of Engineers
$32.7 Million
Construction of a double 25’ x 20’ box culvert and overflow
channel. Inspection duties included field inspection of sheet pile
walls, construction of cutoff walls, concrete and rebar placement,
documenting construction on the as-built drawings, excavation, safety
inspection, submittal of RFI’s & materials submittals
and contract compliance per the standards of the Army Corps of Engineers.

I-680 Sound Wall
Alameda County Congestion Management Agency, ACCMA
$10 Million
New Construction of soundwalls along I-680, Sunol Grade Corridor.
The project includes the construction of 8 masonry block soundwalls,
partial widening of freeway, and new drainage system.
Services: Constructibility Review, Resident Engineering, and Construction

San Francisco Municipal Railway Third Street
Light Rail Extension Project
City of San Francisco
$500 Million total, $60 Million Ghirardelli
Expansion of San Francisco Light Rail Transit system with 8 new
stations. Phase I of the Third Street Light Rail Project consists
of a 5.4 mile extension of the MUNI Metro light rail system, beginning
near the Caltrain station at 4th and King streets to an intermodal
terminal adjacent to the Caltrain Bayshore Station. Phase I of the
Project also includes a new light rail maintenance, operations,
and storage facility called Muni Metro East Facility (MME).

Fairfield/Napa project offices, I-780 Night paving project, CA37
improvements, I-80 Barriers, Trancas/CA29 Interchange
Caltrans District 4 Staff Augmentation
$30 Million/$40 Million/Various
Near the Wine Train crossing and the multimillion dollar widening
of I-80 near the Carquinez bridge in Vallejo, project included
work with PG&E for utility relocation and performing field work for traffic
signal and highway lighting construction items. Overlay I-780
with Rubberized AC and placing shoulder backing, widen existing ramps and
restripe
freeway. Widen SR 37 from two lanes to four lanes, install a
concrete median barrier, drainage wicks and relocate (microtunnel) an existing
sewer system. Constructed
a new overcrossing and modified existing signalized intersections.
John Daly Boulevard Interchange remodel and Bridge Widening Project
City of Daly City
$4 Million
Widening of John Daly Blvd. overcrossing I-280 and Hwy 1 in
Daly City. The project involved adding an additional lane of traffic on the
bridge, realigning the southbound off-ramp, new signals and underground utilities,
and beautification with architectural lighting and new landscaping.
San Francisco Municipal Airport Expansion project, claims consultation and contract closeout services
City of San Francisco
$2 Billion/$100 Million
Projects consisted of construction of 2.5 miles of new bridge
structures on airport right-of-way as well as adjacent to and
over Highway 101. In addition, the project included the construction
of new drainage, electrical, landscaping, overhead sign erection,
paving, grading, utility relocation, and miscellaneous
items. Ghirardelli Associates provided Resident engineering,
inspection, office engineering services for the elevated
roadways contract and inbound/outbound ramps contract.
Benicia - Martinez Bridge Seismic Retrofit
Caltrans
$ 100 Million+
This seismic retrofit project included replacing the existing
steel bearings with isolation bearings, adding a new tapered
exterior concrete jacket to most of the piers and adding additional
caissons with tie down
anchors. Ghirardelli Associates provided Office Engineering and
Support Inspection to Benicia Toll Bridge Project.
Pier 43 Arch Restoration Project
Port of San Francisco
$1 Million
Restoration of this historical building after fire had damaged the structure.
The work consisted of placing a new roof, electrical system,
exterior wall construction and architectural remediation.
